Aerodynamics & Aeroacoustics

Our flow solvers optimized for internal flow have proved to be suitable for aerodynamics and aeroacoustics as well. Only turbulence modeling needs special attention. Hence aerodynamic applications can be directly coupled to internal flow problems such as to the underhood flow simulation of cars.

Other than ground bounded vehicles we analyze the aerodynamics of aircrafts, buildings, solar panels and wind turbines.

We not only provide classical aerodynamic quantities like loads from pressure and sheer stresses but also analyze ambitious dynamic effects like wake interference of moving bodies. Besides particle related issues like the transport, tracing and sedimentation of dust and snow can be added to our standard aerodynamic simulation models.

The analysis of flow induced noise is a most challenging field of application we have moved in with extraordinary compute power.

More recent applications concern with the aeroacoustics of vehicle cooling fans and pressure induced noise in engine intake systems.
